Friday Hiking post

Are you ready for another Friday hiking post? If not, skip this, I'm going to blog it anyway. Today we hiked over five miles up to "High Creek Lake" (and over five miles back down). We know that they named it appropriately since the lake is nearly at the peak of the mountain. The first part of the hike was a steady, but not difficult climb. Then about two thirds in, we started doing switch backs and finally ended at the lake. It took about four hours to get to the lake, and about three to get back down. We crossed the creek about six times. This particular one was the scariest for me. Coming back, I put one foot on each log and it wasn't so bad, but the small log was kind of bouncy and the creek running underneath made it a bit scary.

Quite a bit of the hike was in the shade, which was nice because it was a pretty hot day.

The wildflowers were lovely when we got up high on the mountain. In fact at times we had to push through fields where the vegetation was more than waist high.
