Jardine Juniper

It's Friday - and hiking day again! Today we hiked to Jardine Juniper, a 1500 year old Juniper tree. It was 5.2 miles up and 5.2 miles back. It was a beautiful day. It has been raining all week, but the sun came out just for us today. The trail was wet in some places, but not too bad. The river was rushing high, and we had to cross on some logs. We ate our lunch at the tree and then came back down, making the return trip in a lot less time. It's fun to have a bunch of friends to hike with.

This was taken at the beginning of the hike. From left are JoLynn, Nan, Janae, Lee, Catherine, Laurie, Teresa and Tracii (taken with the timer on my camera, hence not a great shot.) Janae and Lee raced up and back because they had a schedule to meet. I think they were home about the time we reached the tree. Nan went up with them to the tree and then turned around and went back with us. She's a buff woman.


The views were amazing. I'm so glad we were able to stop and gawk occasionally!

Nan brought her wildflower book so we could identify the beautiful flowers along the trail.
