Lisa and Sara spearheaded a fabulous event. When we arrived home, there was a scavenger hunt set up. They had planned to have us go all over town, but the snow was still coming down and it was not a good day to be outside driving around. So, we went from room to room with clues and in each place found the number 30 spelled out with thirty things. There were thirty candy canes in the music room, thirty bows on the back of our bathroom door, thirty Clementines in the downstairs bathroom, thirty cans of Diet Pepsi on the floor in the library, and thirty bottles of Sam’s lime water in the clubhouse. That was Lee’s favorite. He immediately went to work moving the bottles in the “3” to inside the “0.” The clues were really clever too. Bryce is still giggling about the way the girls spelled his Dutch word “Eet Smakelik” (I’m not sure that’s right, but it's phonetically correct). They wrote “eeeeeec (phlegm)kss maack(phlegm)leck”. It took us awhile to figure out what they were trying to spell. That’s what we say when we’re about to eat, so of course that clue was in the kitchen.
After the hunt, Lisa and Sara cooked dinner, and they had brought up all the groceries. Matthew and Kristin also joined us for steaks, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and toasting punch with a tasty little tart dessert. What a great surprise and a big treat for us. I especially appreciate that they weren’t afraid of the road and braved the weather to come and celebrate with us. Thanks again!!
