I just mailed out Christmas cards with our blog address attached, for those really curious ones. If friends are really interested, they can go back through my old blog posts and do catch up. But, for most of you out there, a quick summary of the year would be better. So, here's the year in review. Since this is a public blog, I will substitute ** for city and state. Those who know us, or who got our Christmas card, will know where we are.
Early in the year, we found out that Bryce was on the short list for a new job as the director of the Center for Persons with Disabilities at ** University. This is an amazing opportunity for him, as the program is much bigger and more prestigious than the program he was currently directing at ** University. But, even more important, moving to * meant moving near our family again - both of our parents, and three of our four children. The first part of February we flew to * for the interview and presentation. While we were there, our grandson Axton decided to be born five weeks early. (Maybe he was letting us know how important it was to live here?) Two weeks later while we were on a trip to Boston (business for Bryce, tag along for Laurie) we got the phone call offering us the job. The offer was amazing - a big salary increase, full professor and tenure. It was difficult to tell our wonderful friends in * that we would be leaving, but we knew that the Lord had His hand in this and that it was the right thing to do.
After much searching, along with much prayer, we chose a house on the side of the hill very near to both of our parents. We moved in June17. It has been a lot of work finishing up some rooms in the unfinished basement, and we hired a company to put in the yard. We love our new home. We especially love that it is a great place to have our kids come for a visit, and that they come often.
Lisa and Cody presented us with our third grandchild in September, Annalisa. How amazing to be grandparents! They are delightful fun. We've had the opportunity to have some overnight visits as parents have had new babies or traveled. That has been a great opportunity too. Kathy and Doug will give us grandchild number four in February. I plan to spend some time with them to help with the new little one.
Bryce and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage on December 19. I can honestly say, it just keeps getting better and better. We are able to get to the temple often, and we're doing family history work. Bryce is ward employment specialist and I'm leading the ward choir. We love having our family visit, but then we love being alone in our pretty new house.
Come and see us sometime. We have a great new guestroom (look further down on this blog) and love having company! We send our love and best wishes for a warm and wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

Good to hear from you again! Glad the move to your new home went relatively smoothly. Got caught up with your blog - you've done a great job with it. Lots of pics and explanations of what you're doing. It was very enjoyable reading what you've been up to. If we are up in that area, we will definately come see you!
