You're invited!

Sara and I sing in the American Festival Chorus under the direction of Craig Jessop, who recently left the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. This is an amazing experience for me. When Craig Jessop came to Logan to be the head of the music department at USU, they asked him if he would be interested in directing the community choir which was called "Northern Utah Choral Society." He said he would, but he wanted to make some changes. The name was changed, all members had to re-audition and the choir went from about 30 singers to 270. We rehearse each Wednesday night for two and a half hours. We started out rehearsing in the choir room at USU, but they had to bring in over a hundred chairs each night and fire code was getting blasted. So now we rehearse in the auditorium seats at Edith Bowen Laboratory school on campus. It is amazing to sing under Dr. Jessop. He seems to have never ending energy and expects the finest from us. I am learning so much. It's tiring, but great.

Here's a little blip from the local news guy. It's really bad, but kind of fun to watch. We're just warming up in this movie, but even warmups are intense. We are holding up our hands to learn to get the vowels right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzUM_zqw7TI By the way, this week at our rehearsal, Craig mentioned that a friend of his at Champaign-Urbana Illinois told him he'd seen our rehearsal on U-Tube. Craig was not happy. He thought one of our number recorded it and posted it. When he heard it was the news broadcast, then that was all right.

Here's the fun part. We have two concerts coming up in November. The first is on Veteran's Day, November 11. We'll be singing wonderful patriotic music along with the USU symphony to honor our veterans. The second concert will be Saturday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall of the Chase Fine Arts Center. We will be performing the Mozart Requiem. Both concerts are $10 per ticket. Children under age 8 are not permitted for the Mozart concert. We hope to have you come. It will be amazing.
