Goodbye to Max

On the way home from our trip to Utah, we stopped at the Snake River near Shelley, Idaho to send Max back home. Here's what I wrote in my journal:
We stopped at the Shelley exit and drove down to the Snake River. We had decided that this would be the final resting place for Max. That way, he could travel back to his birth place in Moscow. We put on our boots and hats and hiked down to the edge of the river. The sun was shining brightly and the river was beautiful with snow along the banks and covering the bushes. I took a bunch of pictures of the river. Bryce told Max that this was a special place for our family, and that it was so beautiful, we knew he'd like it there. Goodbye Max. You were a great dog.

Hugs to everyone, and our thoughts are with Max, too. My family buried Sebastian just over a month ago down here in Colorado, on the side of a mountain. He's got one of the best views around! Maybe he and Max can find their way home to Moscow to play.
