Leprechaun Mischief

I've always loved St. Patrick's Day.  Maybe it's because I have an Irish great grandmother, or that green comes at a time when we need a green boost after winter.  But, I think the most likely reason is that I was born an hour before St. Patrick's Day.  I always decorate my house with shamrocks and I have St. Patrick's Day picture books.  Almost a month ago, as I put away Valentine's Day and got out the books and decorations for St. Patrick's Day, I read "The Night Before St. Patrick's Day" to my grandchildren.  Almost immediately, the five year old began figuring out how to set some leprechaun traps.  That's what got this year's celebration started.  And boy, did we celebrate. 

A leprechaun visited our house last night and did a lot of mischief.

 He piled pillows on the back of the couch.

 He cut a hole in the leprechaun trap that was set and escaped, leaving behind a bit of gold.

 He left us this cute stuffed leprechaun, attached to the leftover "get well" balloons that were part of a trap, and he left us a note and more gold chocolate.

 He put the chairs up on the tables, the napkins upside down, the pretend grapes and a basket upturned on the leg of the chair.

 He sneaked down in the night and drew green mustaches and eyebrows on kids faces.

 He overturned the stools.

 He easily got out of this trap that was supposed to fall down and have the lid land on him.

 Here's the note he left, and Grandma got green fingernails too!

 All the grownups got green toenails from that silly leprechaun.  Even Grandpa and Daddy Cody.  Cody was gone out to build on the house before we took pictures.

And the fake fruit moved from decoration to eating spot.
 

This hassock got upended plus Grandma's shamrock decorations moved all over the place.

Here's our St. Patrick's Day breakfast.  Mommy Lisa made rainbow waffles, Grandpa made a "gold" omelet and Grandma made some golden honey butter for the waffles.

The corned beef is cooking for dinner.  We'll be having our Irish traditional favorite - corned beef and boiled cabbage, potatoes, carrots, onions and parsnips.  Can't wait!
