Between Nicaragua and Costa Rica we didn't have a sea day. That was the only time on our trip that we had two ports in a row. These two countries share a border. We bought a shore excursion to an ecological park. I liked this little cemetery as we drove past in the bus.
The Eco-Tourism Park featured rides on this aerial tram up to the top of the mountain overlooking the forest. Our guide pointed out that it wasn't a true rain forest since we were on the dry side of the country. But we felt that it was still very green. We loaded into these trams along with our guide and rode about a mile up to the top and then back down again as he told us about the forest.
I have tons of pictures of beautiful greenery and water trickling.
This waterfall cascaded just below us as we reached the top of the mountain.
And the view going back down was outstanding.
This tree doesn't look much like the ones at home.
After we reached the ground, we went on a walk through a nature park. Of course there were orchids and heliconia, a genus of plants including Bird of Paradise.
I don't know the name of this one, but we saw it used as a hedge around many homes.

Probably the most fascinating thing in the park was the leaf cutter ants. We followed their trail all along the sidewalk and up into the forest. The pieces of leaf you see are being carried by ants.
And, there's a sign to help us watch out for them.
Back to the ship, and off toward the canal!
