Back at it.

The "Likin' Hikin' Ladies" kind of took a vacation over the holidays, but today we were back in force.  Oh, the canyon is beautiful right now!  There were eleven of us on snowshoes today.  The snowpack is over 200% of normal, so in some places I could poke my pole all the way down into the snow.  The valley has cold air trapped in an inversion layer, holding in the smog and cold.  But when you get up into the mountains, you drive above the inversion and the sky is blue and sun brilliant.  It was so good to get out in the crystal clear air and be with friends.  Enjoy some pictures!

Can you see that layer of inversion behind me?

Here are my awesome hiking buddies, all showing off their snowshoes.  What better therapy could a woman have than a morning in the sun, chatting with other women and getting some exercise?  As you can see, even though it was cold outside (teens), we were warm enough to take off some layers.  I left my hat on out of vanity.  My hair looked pretty strange when I took it off later.

Yes, it was a wonderful day. God made the world beautiful in all seasons. What a blessing to be able to enjoy His creation, even in the cold.
